Learn: 22 reasons why you need to blog
Do people still read blogs?
The answer is YES!
Blogging has been around since 1994. It may have been dismissed as a novelty at the time, but fast forward to now, and a quarter of all websites on the internet are pure blogs.
Given these statistics, I have 22 reasons why investing in a blog will pay off for your business.
Let’s start with a big one.
77% of internet users read blogs.
97% more inbound links and 434% more indexed pages – which essentially means the Google algorithm will love you more!
However, your post needs to be easy to read quickly, because the average reader only spends about 40 seconds reading a blog post.
It’s no surprise then, that blog articles with images get 94% more views.
Internet users in the US spend 3 times more time on blogs than they do on email.
66% of all blog content is written in English.
The average time spent writing a post has increased to 3.5 hours. In 2014 it was 2.5 hours. This information is useful if you’re paying someone to write the posts for you.
Readers expect more from blogs now, and writers are putting in more effort and creating longer posts as well.
Let’s break this down, marketers are paid to generate traffic and we know blogging takes effort, so if it wasn’t working why would they be spending their time on it?
56% of them say blogging has helped establish the business’s position as an industry thought leader.
81% of businesses report that their company blog is critical to their business.
69% of businesses attribute their lead generation success to blogging.
And the lead cost is cheaper. Marketers report the cost per lead is 62% less than outbound marketing such as advertising.
In fact, the average business that blogs get 97% more inbound links! That’s quite incredible.
If you’re an e-commerce business this is important, 61% of U.S. online consumers have made a purchase based on recommendations from a blog and 51% of blog readers shop online.
Need a reason to persevere with blogging for your business.
After 21 blog posts, blog traffic generation increases by up to 30%.
And after you write 52 or more blog posts, that traffic generation increases by up to 77%!
According to Digital Buzz Blog, the average person watches 182 online videos a month. That’s a lot of videos!
So, by including video content in your blog you can attract a large amount of website traffic. See I’ve done that at the top of this post!
I’ll leave you with two last important statistics.
Websites with an active blog get 55% more visitors.
For me, this is one of the most important statistics, because what business doesn’t want to attract 50% more visitors to their website!
57% of businesses with a blog have acquired a customer from that blog!
To attract that customer it’s recommended you blog at least once a week, 70% of marketers blog weekly!
So there you go! The data doesn’t lie.
22 reasons why blogging is still as important and as relevant as ever in 2020. The key is consistency and quality. So dust off your business blog or start a new one.
Blog regularly and give people information that is relevant to them.
